The bugs will not be able to simply digest themselves forever and any claims is similar to perpetual motion. Maybe energy can be added through hydrogenation or adding syrup to the poo mash. Maybe like other anon said. Bacteria that uses photosynthesis from artificial lighting or something to bypass waiting for a plant to grow.
