So i know its been 27 years since this was new, but i just read the paper so fuck it. Is this correct? I have found no problem with the methodology and it has been replicated several times...

Even if true, it doesn’t necessarily change very much in terms or free will, etc. The reason you decided a thing could still be all the reasons you think you decided it, only your experience of that reasoning lags the actual reasoning by a small interval of time. That said, if you take up something like mindfulness meditation, you become very aware of how little control you really have over your thinking, and how much you’re just observing the thoughts go by. Obviously the short answer is nobody really knows if free will meaningfully exists in the way that we intuitively think it does, but the experiment you mention doesn’t really affect that argument one way or the other.

Did you expect people's "voluntary and spontaneous" (arbitrary and meaningless) decision to move in a test like this to come literally out of nowhere? Of course there urge to move at one time over another had to come from somewhere, and where else it would come than preceding brain activity.
