The adoption studies I've looked at show pretty clearly that a child's IQ correlates with the adopting parents IQ - but only initially. The older the child gets the more it correlates with the biological parents and less it correlates with the adopting parents. By the age of 18 IQ no more correlated to the adopting parents than a random child, it is however strongly correlated to the biological parents IQ (which they have never seen). QED
