I always wanted a telescope since I was a child and now I can afford one. But before dropping dollars I want to know what I can do with it. Just watching sky and doing some astrophotography sounds fun, but I also want to gather scientifically meaningful and quantitative data with it. Although I came across serious amateurs hunting comets/asteroids/supernovae, I doubt I can spare that much resources. Are there more lightweight but fun astronomy project?
