Half the carrier's children would also be carriers, none would be homozygous for light skin so the gene spreads through the population for a while without expressing. Eventually by chance two carriers will breed, of their offspring 1/4 would be normal dark skin, 1/2 would be carriers and 1/4 light skinned.
