anyone can say anything. when you have a proper method to identify cognitive abilities that's not a performance test and you have identified the genes responsible for these cognitive abilities and CAN explain their pathology rather than just a retarded association then you can say that you have an irrefutable proof of intelligence differences. other than that you are just going to have fruitless arguments forever

My favorite thing about the whole Watson thing is there's actually plenty of (while maybe not respected) at least frequently published psychologists who say similar things, the only difference is they at least make an attempt at doing research and being at least somewhat factual. Watson was hilarious because he published nothing, never even referenced the research he found so conclusive, and just went on a huge media tour because he was feeling old and irrelevant.

Considering Watson was a one hit wonder who, even then, coasted on the scientific thinking of others around him. All his achievements post-double helix are in the realm of fundraising and administration. Combined with the personal accounts I've heard from people that have tried working with him and how terrible it was... Yeah, I don't think he was a very good scientist and his double helix fame made his head go so far up his ass that any idea he shitted out felt like unassailable genius to him.

The thing about Watson’s declarations is that what got him in big trouble was asking a colleague if he found out why ashkenazis were so smart, and his point about blacks was that if you want to help them you can’t base policy on a belief that they have the same capabilities if that’s not true. He really wasn’t just talking shit.
