No. It proves there's no aether that the earth is moving through, but it doesn't make sense to say whether the earth is moving -- motion is relative, even in nonrelativistic physics.

Also you'd need a transcontinental vacuum tube. Or a very high powered laser that spews fire pit of the front. This is due to ambient occlusion, the same process that makes stars twinkle. Gas in the laser direction absorbs a certain percent of the light per unit distance, turning it blue and scattering the laser. And you'd be hard pressed to find a cheaper way to do that than just flying to antarctica.
