Why do they give an anti-histamine to people with depression/or other mental illnesses? Does this make any sense at all to you and why?

I don't have any history of depression or mental illness, I'm not feeling sick either. I do have some promethazine here. Do you think it would be safe to give it a one time try? (25mg pill) Kinds just wanna see if it'll make me relaxed or sleepy as doctors claim.

Well I tried 25mg, and it's been a few hours with no effect at all. I'm wondering if they where old or something. Thank you for explanation, that lead me down some research.
I also have Pregabalin, similiar to a benzo. Wouldn't ever dare to touch those though.

Pregabalin is not similar to a benzodiazepine. Pregabalin is a gabapentinoid.
Are you taking it for sleep? I'd recommend just taking melatonin instead of promethazine.

I'm actually a retard to be honest. I know nothing of medication and how it works ect.
Thank you for mentioning that Pregabalin isn't similiar to a benzo, because I wouldn't have known otherwise.
This doctor printed out a list (pic related) where he noted in German that Pregabalin is similar to a benzodiazepine.
Is this wrong? Should I mention it?

Maybe he means that they can have similar anxiolytic effects. I wouldn't use that terminology with a patient at all especially since benzos are associated with a much more severe side effect profile.

No problem. If you don't have any issues with sleep architecture though or any corresponding psychiatric issues, then just modifying your sleep behavior/hygiene and using melatonin is best for most people.
