>>12651601Because our education is a pain in the ass. My university is shit. I guess almost all of the universities in Germany are shit. You just get through studying science with a very high stress tolerance. A lot of professors are just assholes who don't want anyone to succeed and don't help at all. Another reason is that the hard sciences aren't valued and paid as much as easier sciences.
Some friends of mine dropped out of their physics major to do engineering. People who didn't pass even one exam are now passing every exam in engineering. And they get paid better later. It's ironic.
Only the people who really want to learn this stuff are the ones who stay with the harder degree. I sit at home all day and learn stuff just to understand, passing my courses doesn't matter. I want to get this. And most of my colleagues have the same aspiration. They want to know. Or they are autistic in some sense.
Almost all of them study longer then the minimum time needed. And almost all knowledge comes from one studying. You basically could just stay at home and read and practice all the stuff, understand it and just go to university for exams.
