When we do figure out how to travel in space at near light speed, how are we gonna prevent the ships from getting destroyed after hitting something as small as a grain of sand ? Just one gram of matter travelling at 90% of the speed of light has the kenetic energy equivalent of a 30 kiloton bomb. So a full sized ship would have an enormous explosion if it hit anything.
