I can tell you what the Mormons were researching. When I worked at an ion-beam microscope company, the Mormon Church bought one of our machines, to see if they could program it to etch microscopic copies of their geneology records on to silicon wafers to store at the bottom of a salt mine. Basically, converting microfiche technology to a more stable and durable medium. It all depends on the specifics like what's the budget, how long exactly, how much information, if people are supposed to find and understand it after that period or not etc.

Making a thing massive is always good way to preserve it, Pyramids are 4500 years old by now and likely to be easily recognizable after another 5k years
Burying something will improve it's durability considerably but will make it hard to be found later placing the object in Antarctica or Sahara or any other such location would also help with space being the best preserver.
If you can afford it making things out of gold would be good, you could enhance the information retention by using platinum to be a second "color" to create text or figures, perhaps bits of diamond too it's pretty stable so long as it's kept cool.
Clay tablets are cheaper and easier to make than stone carvings and both are quite durable in the short term, you probably want hard stone if you want to aim long, cheaper than gold or diamonds for certain.
Digital storage would be cheap and simple but would require periodic maintenance

So clearly the best course of action would be a massive stone and gold composite pyramid with diamond-platinum pictograms launched into orbit around pluto.

And fuck's sake. Gold and platinum are both easily malleable. One rock falling on them and boom your information goes.

Paper size silver/copper plates around 1cm thick is the way to go. Titanium, lead and uranium is the most durable though

I had an idea, I call it the Decentralized Cosmic Database.

You create a lattice of satellites in space that all send signals to each other to cross-backup data like a striped RAID, transmit other information, and also constantly using triangulation to keep in sync etc.

Over time they will grow farther apart, some will get destroyed etc. How many would you need to keep a decentralized cosmic database operational for billions of years? I'm sure a late-stage interstellar civilization would be able to create millions of them over time.

Whatever Bitcoin or other crypto eventually turns into, I'm sure someday in the future it will be run like this. Serving as the backbone of the galactic internet.
