Deadly when being mined, prepared in a factory, and when demolished. Otherwise, unless you are literally breaking bits of it off the wall and eating it, you'll be fine. Regardless, any exposure at all will kill sooner or later.
While in developing countries it doesn't matter, since by the time it catches up to them in half a century's time they'll probably be dead anyway, in the developed world they'll suffer a shitty and painful death.

Yeah. Think of it this way, there are dozens of skyscrapers in NY with asbestos in their walls, yet it was the Twin Towers collapsing that caused a surge in cancer cases.

If it's inside a wall, it doesn't hurt much. Unlike lead paint, which is on rather than in a wall.

So you're saying that all people will die sooner or later because of asbestos? Because there are trace amounts of asbestos fibers in the air, everywhere. These are the background levels that are compared to indoor air measurements.

Even trace amounts of Asbestos will eventually cause cancer.
If you live long enough for those trace amounts to cause cancer, then you are going to die from it. The vast majority of people will die before those amounts cause a viable cancer.

Asbestos was also used for a lot of paints, and at least in my country paint is the main way people are exposed.
Lead paint was banned mainly because there was the craze about how all the lead in the water is driving people insane.
