Sophomore problems

It's frustrating to knowenough about something to make formal statements and know how to state relationships between things (i.e diffy Qs), but not enough to be fooled by subtle shit.
>be me
>write a paper for my physics class on waves
>trying to derive the Taylor-von Neuman blast radius equation
>trying to fit density into the picture
>remember sound travels faster in solids than liquids, and it travels faster in liquids than gases
>what do these things have in common such that ?
>Ah yes, of course
>"density is directly proportional to wave speed in a medium"
>have to say the radius is inversely proportional to blast radius later to make sense of things, justify it with intuition.
>send the paper
>go about my day
>in my toilet taking a shit
>how the fuck can it be directly proportional to speed and inversely proportional to blast radius?
>realize I fucked up

Didn't even think about elasticity modulus, fuck me. I had to send my prof a corrected version.
