All the minerals that supposedly formed when the current continents were submerged formed during the gas giant phase, and the continents are the core's original surface. The ocean floor formed after the pressure was relieved and the Earth cracked and expanded. This also could have provided conditions for life to form, and could exist in other gas giants.
