I have a question regarding scientific research misconduct, specifically in the area of biopharma and drug design. I work at a very small and very new biotech company who just closed a very substantial financial deal. I will not ID any aspect of this as it would fuck me.

The company was founded based on patents stemming from chemistry research done at an institution a few years back. Looking through some of their school work I found a summary of the experiment leading to the "discovery" of their lead. A chemical synthesis went wrong, and before any sort of separation or structure elucidation whatsoever, a bit of the undesired mixture was injected into a mouse. Something in it was found to have very exciting "activity" and therefore the active compound was then identified. I recently found out about this after I was probing. This probing was in turn because they fired a more senior employee (and friend of mine) strictly because he began asking questions. Notwithstanding the ethical error this was pretty fucked up to me and I am wondering if I have any viable way to fuck them. I thought about a complain to the Office of Research Integrity, but I don't know if they take complaints from random Joes who do not attend the same institution that the misconduct occurred at. The guy holding the patent has also since unintentionally revealed to me that he is a fucking joke of a scientist. Do I have any options? Meanwhile industry people are testing their compounds and are finding toxicities. Any biologists here also want to comment on an MTD in the nanomolar range? They published a paper on these too, saying they were completely non toxic and well tolerated.

Will I ruin my own life if I tattle?
