It's accurate. My father was clear about being 100% Romanian Jew. My mother was clear about being a euromutt. I got the test. 50% Ashkenazi with Romanian centralized area, 50% euromutt. No way for the DNA test to know that. Though I used ancestry, not sure if 23andme is different.

This basically confirms what everyone already know. People have suspected that Northern and Eastern Africa's "success" is largely attributable to the high caucasoid admixture present in their genetics and this chart proves it. Strange though how Algerians are basically Europeans; I did not see that one coming. The rest makes sense though. Why is there no data on that small sliver of West Africa? Isn't that where Mali was or was Mali further inland?

Yes that is retarded. They obviously are not 100% accurate, but the test will know if you're a mutt for example and can pinpoint your ancestral homeland. All this even if you don't give them any information on your ethnicity.

Second paragraph on that screenshot is inaccurate and the author is obviously not familiar with DNA tests.

Is it liked or is it a 70% chance for each part of your DNA that makes up the 2%. If there are 10,000 DNA data points 2% would be 200 data points. So for each of the 200 data points, theres a 70% chance of that data point being correct, right?

No, it looks at an aggregate of your DNA profile. It's not as simple as counting points. You might have for instance, under the 70% certainty band

>20% Irish
>18% Asian
>2% Italian
Whereas if you adjust that confidence interval to 50% you might get

>20% Asian
>5% Italian
>2% native American
Whereas if you extend it to 90% you might get

Recognize that under different confidence intervals, the conclusions are pretty stable (negro with mixes of Irish and Asian). What's unstable are the low percentages, like Italian or Native American which sometimes vanish depending on your confidence. This is why you should basically reject anything the test shows below 5%. Anything above that you can take as a pretty stable fact of your ancestry
