I'm a newly appointed interim nurse manager on the psych unit of my hospital who had a project dumped on me by upper management. The project began with the previous nurse manager. I feel that the work she did with this project (which is mandatory btw) was unsatisfactory. The project is about obtaining ECGs on patients in a timely manner, which she stated in her project proposal, is a problem (though does not list the hospital's standard nor any numbers to reveal there is an actual problem).
The information I have available to me for each patient: dates of ECG orders, dates of each attempt to obtain the ECG by nursing staff, and if those attempts were successful. I want to do some form of statistical analysis to determine if there is a correlation between the time between the order and the follow-up by staff nurses to obtain the ECG in getting a patient to comply (you can imagine there are quite a few psych patients that do not comply due to their conditions). Can anyone recommend an appropriate test? I think I could figure out how to do the math on my own, but finding the correct test to perform has proven trickier than I like. Most videos and websites I've visited have too many options or too few details. Sorry to ramble, but any help would be greatly appreciated!
