If you're don't like playing the mathematics game pick another one you're not under any pressure to be some figure just play life and follow your natural curiosities we all will die in the end. Everybody self learns school is just for the accreditation. All the knowledge is in books so just read books but the moment it feels like work dont do it you want to be getting paid to play in life otherwise you will be miserable. Thomas eddison, Bill gates, Steve Jobs, the Wright Brothers, Larry Ellison, none of them got a degree. Notice how I said play. Think of any discipline as a game you can get really good at don't be like "I HAVE to do this" or ever call it "work". If you do that you will be miserable and if you do get through through sheer effort you won't be good. Don't compare yourself to others either. Just have fun with life, that can be in the form of getting good at the physics game, weightlifting, trading, making movies, deep sea ocean diving, whatever. A lot of suffering comes from us not meeting the ideal image of "ourselves" in our head. Also don't think you have to hyper specialize. Listen to Joseph Campbell, little bit of Jung, get into zen, go into nature take some mushrooms, detach from the outcome and enjoy the flow of the process.
