This isn't capitalism. What you're seeing is the merger of corporation and state, allowing corporations to be shielded from any competition thanks to infinite government handouts. They obtain the political capital to do this by pretending to be "woke" on irrelevant social causes that don't impact their bottom line.

The name for this system that blurs the lines between government and corporation was coined by a certain man in 1930's Italy.

You live under fascism. Large corporations are massively subsidized by United States monetary policy, to the point where it is literally impossible for them fail. In return, these corporations fund the campaigns of our elected officials to make sure they maintain control. Our laws are written to prevent anything from threatening the survival of these companies, especially competition. Without competition, there is no innovation. Without innovation, scientists and engineers are just another cost overhead that should be cut as much as possible.

You're both correct, only thing you're missing is that there are different sectors of the economy that effect different part of our lives (at least for the US).
It's not like there's a single monolith that dictate what legislation is passed. There's huge corporations within different sectors that influence politicians and our lives.

Example is the food industry and big tech. Both have huge corporations such as coca cola and facebook, they've influenced our lives to such a huge degree, but they're not related. Each sector of the economy, such as defense, food, entertainment, etc. are all focused on profit. This is why there's fillers in our food and why the average american doesn't know what a union is. The American economy is built on consumerism, and why americans are so fat, because the fast food industry relies on consumerist habits such as eating out instead of cooking at home.

Corporatism refers to the state being organised into "bodies" representing spheres of interest, but the government never answered to or merged with capital under fascism.

I agree that the guy is a brainlet retard, but the term is crony capitalism. Social democracies that are common in west EU and Taiwan are capitalistic, but don't economically rape their citizens on wages, worker rights, rent, or housing like the US does.

Capitalism is when society is organized around private capital, and the state is created to protect the capitalists. In a liberal democracy private capital is protected through public means (such as industry regulations that cut out smaller businesses) which concentrate capital into a specific elite. Even if a state starts out as free market oriented, it'll eventually degenerate into the insane Keynesian economics that are practiced today. The only way to preserve a free market is with a Fascist system, where capital serves the state and not the other way around.
