Science has different priorities and funding agencies definitely have other priorities. Also, some areas have made minimal progress in decades, but other areas experience staggering advances, followed by long quiet periods.

No from what I understand as it is the furthest we can see with supposed super telescopes are residual exhaust from the Big Bang. I think the observations have to do with the distance in which we can see, if we had the same instruments 100k years from now and used them, the data would just be 100k years more out of date. Anyone confirm?
