You would need a very complicated active support system, something like a stream of pellets being projected through tubes in the body to hit impact plates and provide lift. This is really inappropriate in a war-machine, the concept comes from megascale engineering which is larger but fixed structures, not vehicles.
A nuclear reactor could allow you to run a super-powerful jet engine in the back to provide upwards lift, taking stress away from the legs and joints, but at that point why even build a mech just make a nuclear ramjet.
