- There are 3 triangles
5, 2, x
4, 2, x
5,4, x*sqrt(2)
Then you apply the law of cosines to each of them and for the big triangle you also apply the cosine addition formula the break the angles up.
You have 3 equations, 3 variables, you solve for x and calculate the area.
However, that drawing is pretty bad. Not even sure if the geometry is possible, but if it is, then the Area more than 9 but less then 16.
