These are the people with the motivation to attend protest rallies and post online about their poor decisions endlessly. I graduated with $40k of debt and had it paid off in under three years without even thinking about it. I didn't even have to suffer that much to do it. I kept the same car I had during college for five years after graduation. Some people trade-in for a new car every three years and complain that they're poor. Lots of people simply are bad at managing money and make bad decision that they want everyone else to pay for.
But those aren't the only ones demand loan forgiveness. Let's say you have $20,000 in student loans to pay off and earn $85,000 per year. You can easily afford to cover the loan payments and could probably retire the entire debt quickly if you wanted to but why bother when you can instead petition the government to wipe away all of the student debt for everyone? $20,000 in free money is pretty nice if you can get it. You hear a lot from those people too, claiming it's oppression to have to pay back their loans even though they have the means to do so easily.
