I'm a lecturer and in digital education I see exactly how many people watch my videos and how many just read the script or how many do both. They also state it in their feedback about the course and are happy they get both. You may call that a sociological study, but it's real life data.

This. Fucking hell. Dumbass OP rediscovering what people have known for centuries that reading is the most effective form of learning. Since textbooks have become cheap/free the actual learning does not need to happen in fancy university libraries anymore.

The "lecture" format currently at universities are due to the dumbed down YouTube generation and their peasant Chinese parents forcing faculty to do it. All because they think the exhorbitant tuition fees they pay is about getting lectured to, when it's actually about sitting an exam that that is a glorified job market filter while paying to support researchers.

But you and I both know that all styles save for one are bullshit because fundamentally you cannot learn fast enough by watching videos or playing with clay or whatever. If you are trying to master any kind of worthwhile field then you will need to learn by reading (fast) and doing exercises only on the more worthwhile difficult concepts. Telling people their an auditory/visual learner is just a polite way to call them a retard that doesn't belong in gradschool (but we'll take your money to print you a bachelors, go bother the industrytards).

No, just personal experience.
Reading isn't enough for most people, you have to actually use the matieral and play around. Have fun with it. For me, it was implementing everything I didn't completely understand in Python or C++ (or both). For others, it's doing exercises. Everybody's different, Anon. No reason to call a certain kind of person retarded.

A person who can't learn from a textbook efficiently is retarded. I've never seen someone who can learn quickly from reading that can't follow a lecture (and usually they will use speed multipliers when available to get through it faster), but reverse isn't true. In the same vein the fast learners will complete exercises and write code way faster.

It's just people who are dumb and learn slowly vs. people who learn quickly, there are no learning styles.
