Same, ours is more practical and is about applying dsp on a microcontroller, so we have a lot of labs such as implementing a reverb pedal and a real time spectrograph.

Pretty sure in the DSP classes I’ll be taking I won’t be doing direct applications like that but we will have a signal and we have to make a filter and other shit.

Depending on the professor and how it's teached they either make it really mathimadican and start by seperating multiple sinewaves from a single graph. They can also make it really practical and they will ask you to dok matlab BS that you will forget as soon as you are done with the course.

Unfortunately our course doesn’t follow a book. If you have knowledge about microcontrollers, you’re basically applying FIR/IIR filters, convolution, FFT, and other dsp concepts on a microp with dsp capabilities (high clock frequency, floating point processing, ADC/DAC, etc).
