What would happen if you compressed 1 cubic light year of empty intergalactic space with 0 atoms inside, down to one cubic centimeter
what would you get? same vacum as u started with?

OP this is a nice question. I'm not sure of your background or the specific answer to your question.

the answer can probably be determined in the context of quantum field theory on curved soacetimes. Mukhanov has a good intro. In general spacetime doing wacky things leads to particle creation.

What do you mean by "thin air"? I assume you mean "empty space"? Like the black stuff in the sky with no atoms or molecules correct?

Consider this: "empty space" is in itself something, not nothing. It has it's own unique properties. It allows for particles to interact inside of it. It allows for the passage of time. We don't know much about it but to assume that its just empty space is strange. Is there really empty space?
