No you're just not being taught the real stuff which is done on large parallel computers with software that's largely private. Which I think is a scam. For so many papers I read the software is private and not generally available so I just figure their results aren't real, what else can I do?

I like reading about compact objects but they use some software in so many papers that just says it uses 'multi-domain spectral methods' no details on how it calculates it. I'm not in the field so they won't talk to me or tell me anything about the software.
