So bio is a mix of med-student wannabes, vet-student wannabes, and any biology under the sun, from ecologists who play outside all day, to sea world animal trainers, to molecular bio peeps, to pharmacology/any practice related to human health.
Physics is "narrow" in comparison (by no means am I saying there isn't diversity of subject matter in physics, but it is less)
Also, biological sciences is "in" right now in the way that physics was "in" during WW2 and the cold war. It's the renaissance of medical biology and molecular biology right now, and its akin to the nuclear scientists of the atomic age.
