>>12599267All humans worship. They do so almost constantly and usually unconsciously. Humans need worship because despite what cringe larpers say, worship is the primary mechanism by which we derive meaning from action. Worship is prayer, yes, but it's also admiring nice cars as they pass by, dreaming about a nicer house, or buying a gift for a friend. Actions (we feel) have meaning insofar as they contribute to (either by the deification of or by "working towards") a symbolic end (virtue, comfort, God, etc.) and insofar as the ends are immaterial, the acts constitute worship. Religion is easy to attack because it is flashy--just like the very very rich are flashy, who consciously make money their god. What's really despicable is the quiet, subconscious, insidious worship of the modern world, where we turn in our money for the simulated experience worship, where all the gods are chosen for us, and all we have to do is not think too much.
