There is a /sci gap. On one side you have the HS/College kids. On the other side you have the professionals who pop in to answer some questions. A lot of the thread creators are the former.

I'd say understanding of the material, since academic institutions can give credentials to unqualified individuals as well.

I find that flat earthers/anti-vaxers are often used to shame/discredit skeptics, even if there's validity to their arguments. I dislike the whole "believe science" arguments because of that.
