What you need to do is become comfortable with not knowing shit.
The best scientists/smartest people know so much shit because they immediately and constantly admit when they don't know something, and that allows them to find the answer by asking for help or looking it up themselves.
I just earned my PhD a few months ago, mentored quite a few people. The people who failed out really fast were 1 of 2 types:
1) lazy asses who didn't do work (obviously), basically not self-motivated and obviously put stuff off to the last minute, which works in most aspects of life but not grad school
2) people who pretended they knew what they were doing and didn't. I'd explain something to them and ask them if they knew what I just said, and its so obvious when they say "yeah!" but clearly have no idea what I just said vs. those who said "no fucking clue, can you explain again?" The former fails out quickly because they don't know shit, because they never asked for help/clarification about something they didn't know about.
Embrace not knowing something or not understanding something, and don't equate "I don't know"= "I'm dumb", literally "I don't know" is the ONLY way to operate in new spaces.
If you know it, how the fuck are you learning anything new?
