Ladies and gentlemen, serious question: if Starship bellyflops all that way down, wouldn't it be easier to just make it land like a plane? Why was this not in the design? Surely it would be easier to progress with.

Why not avoid the issues with the lifter stage too, for that matter, by having it work like a separate craft that lands like a plane, or a piggy back type thing?
