There is little doubt left that anime causes autogynephilia, however the exact mechanism by which at anime causes autogynephilia is still in doubt.

It is not entirely clear what causes it, or if it really is a paraphilia (if there even is such a thing). More or less we don't know what causes it, some people think it could be natal hormone levels or other things, but we don't really know.

Now there are a lot of really feminizing anime so maybe it could contribute, but it wouldn't make sense including all anime as a cause of agp.

The most common reason these days would be

Anime is watched because it is a visual medium.
The mechanism is visual.

Most anime faces have both adult and neotenic(baby) facial features (big eyes, small nose).

There's a greentext where a drawfag superimposed the drawing of a baby's face and the face of a mature woman and created an anime face.

This neotenic art allows any character to look cute in contrast to the reality of bone structure and hormone pills that make 3D humans look ugly. A lack of tertiary sexual characteristics (bone structure) in most anime characters means that they can look cute if given "a wig" or made to transition in anime.
