The stuff in pic related I think might have been part of Zealandia (the block of continental crust around New Zealand that some people argue is a continent). Don't know why it almost all got submerged.
Kinda wild seeing all these landforms and bodies of water that went out.

but the dinosuars didn't go extinct, they just specialized. there isn't a land animal alive that both lays eggs and has teeth. the only thing that comes close are alligators/crocodiles, and they're primarily aquatic.
