Ventilator associated barotrauma and volutrauma is a thing but most of these cases are because the patient was at such a severe stage of covid they were going to die with or without ventilation
More people should have dnr orders and stop taking up the icu beds for weeks when they're a lost cause

Yes, people were put on ventilators way too early. Now it's only used as a last resort.
