Hello /sci/
I want to do some measurements on an element that behaves as a non-linear spring. I want to characterize the torque vs deflection curve, and for this I have made a measurement setup. Now, I myself am an electrical engineer and I do not have much experience with mechanical things besides the very basics. After measuring I have ran into some issues, and I just cant seem to figure out what is wrong, and neither could anyone around me.
Pic related is the measurement setup. The elastic element (think of it as a torsion spring) is connected to the test bench through a torque sensor. The other side of the spring is connected to an arm. The other side of the arm is fixed to the test bench using a bolt (and a washer in between to ensure the arm doesnt touch anywhere else). In the middle of the arm a load-cell is located.
