The problem is most employers don't know what a mechanical engineer is. They'll hire a DeVry grad with an unaccredited technology degree who will then proceed to ruin the reputation of engineering. Or they get treated like they are machinists or button pushers instead of people that can apply the science to a project.

If this were 2001 mechE would be dying. Today mechE is 100% completely dead. There are no real mechE jobs in the US because all of our manufacturing was moved overseas. The people who are left just do random bullshit that's only tangentially related to actual engineering.

Hate to bring up /pol/ here but you /sci/ retards really should start publicly supporting tariffs. That’s what built up our industrial base in the past, the American System of Economics it was called (tariffs and huge federal investment in infrastructure)

ME is probably the best engineering to go into (besides electrical and software, of course) because it's so broad. You can work on everything from rockets to air conditioning.
