When people talk about legal immigrants "displacing native workers", they are not really talking about unemployment or not being able to find 'any' job. It is basic economics, 3rd world immigrants increase the supply of unskilled labor a lot and only increase the demand of unskilled labor by very little. Therefore, wages go down.
No one is arguing that legal immigrants will make unskilled natives unemployed. The argument is that the only work they can find will pay less than it did in the past.
Illegal immigrants on the other hand are a different story. So long the native worker is not willing to work illegally, illegal immigrants can always undercut the native worker because of regulations(e.g. minimum wage).
