>>12583726What are your hobbies im genuinely curious, when people say they have never used algebra outside of school I have a hard time believing it.
Im not a math god or anything, I struggled hard with high school algebra but even still I've used math so much on my own. I learned a lot of geometry and trig when I used to draw as a teenager so I could draw full page tessellations faster and have them look consistent. As an adult I don't draw much anymore but I do 3D stuff and code shaders which is a lot of trig and linear algebra. You mention pythagorean theorem, even in 3rd grade I was trying to find out the relationship between the length of sides on a triangle with my basic ass multiplication and division skills. I was off base and didnt know the importance of right angles and all that but I recognized there was something there.
Even when playing videogames I have spent a lot of time tweaking settings and my pc to make things as visually smooth and comfortable as possible.
Though I can't say i've used much beyond basic calculus outside of work/school.
Even outside of literal numbers and equations when I look at things I think of how they are assembled, how they fit together, and how their pieces work together; that is in the same realm of thinking as math. Do you not think about these things at all? What are you thinking about all the time?
Math is such a good tool, and its really interesting to know how stuff works together, I don't know why people write it off so much.
