It's a perfect number that fits on the phalanges of your fingers and thumbs. A 28 letter Alphabet (as seen in Arabic) would be ideal too.

Base 10 because it's the easiest. Whenever you multiply by 10 you just need to add a 0 to the end. Way easier than any other.

Um, I think base12 or maybe base2 if we were computers. Honestly though I think base10 is probably fine.

Pi or Tau is a better choice that has not ever been widely applied.
