>>12580785Fox News lawyers have argued in court their TV shows are not in fact news but are opinion shows and that their viewers know the difference. THIS is what's wrong with America. Conservative News outlets have convinced people that opinion and facts are the same thing.
In a world of 24 hour news cycle and multiple Fox news channels, they simply didn't have enough news to fill all the time. They were forced to resort to opinion shows but people wanted news, so they simply branded the opinion shows and formatted it as actual news. Surprise! People are so conditioned to what a news show should look like that when you cloak an opinion show in the same garb people can't tell the difference. Years and years of this conditioning has degraded peoples ability to even tell fact from opinion.
The worst is this all started cause there wasn't enough news to fill the 24 hour news cycle. Now there is TOO MUCH NEWS to report it all, but they still are reporting on opinion instead of fact. The reason for this is because of Trump. Roger Ailes is gone and Trump wishes to fill the power vacuum. He calls into Fox news almost daily setting the tone and narrative for what they should say and if he doesn't like it he blasts them on twitter with accusations of "fake news." It has quickly shifted from "opinion" based news reporting over to an authoritarian state sponsored propaganda news outlet.
All this, due to years of opinion based news disguised as actual news, degrading peoples ability to tell fact from opinion. People will say the problem with our news system identity politics. That people chose their news outlet to reconfirm their own biases and opinions. This is a red herring. It's actually because there are people who literally have lost their ability to tell fact from opinions and when they hear a fact that runs counter to their own opinions they can't tell it's wrong. It's a mass delusion propagated by TV.
