It's not like some counter attack you've activated my trap card type scenario. Some mutations may make the virus more resistant to whatever the current vaccine is, however that same strain of virus may also cause less severe reactions in people, much like how the common cold affects quite a few people each year but it isn't as if the common cold kills everyone who gets it.
