In the beginnings of 2019 I buy a crypto product for 10 ETH that paid 10% upfront (1.10 ETH) and then 10% annually. Now in 2021 I have around 13.33 ETH, netting a 33% ROI, but trying to calculate it to APY (annual percentage yield), how is the math around this?

Fair enough, I thought exactly the same, should be close to 16.5% but not exacly that. Just trying to have the exact number so I can put it on my excel and see how all my investments are performing.

$P_T=P_0(1+y)^T$
$\frac{P_T}{P_0}=(1+y)^T$
$\left(\frac{P_T}{P_0}\right)^{1/T}=1+y$
$y=\left(\frac{P_T}{P_0}\right)^{1/T}-1$
big T is the number of years, P_0 is the initial price you paid and P_T is the amount you have today

Yes it all depends on the yield system. This is the geometric one >>12577836 but you can also use the exponential one, which is the standard in financial markets:

$P_T=P_0e^{yT} \ \ \to \ \ \ln(\frac{P_T}{P_0})\frac{1}{T}=y$

thanks fren, this works too, also I've found myself on a position where I love finance (I'm able to recognize patterns and find good investment opportunities) but I'm lacking some math because of bad teachers on high school, do you reckon that due to my background it would be best to study statistics or something else?

I see you're a fundamental investor so most math you need is high school. Review algebra, precalc and equations to manipulate effectively the yield formulas like the above and to compute discounted cash flows for firms.

Statistics needs at least a calculus background. If you want to go into that (I'm in finance and I assure you it's quite the norm) then do calc then stats. You can find plenty of private tutors, free books and videos online. You'll be on par in a year.
