Brainlet here. Scientifically speaking is alien life possible? What about life that is not carbon based? How would silicon based life work? Are there other options than these 2?

A few years back they found an microorganism that used arsenic instead of phosphorous in the backbone of its dna. Arsenic disrupts metabolic pathways because chemically it behaves similarly to phosphate. Therefore, it may have a unique biochemistry. Just because we haven't seen it yet doesn't mean if the conditions were right it wouldn't exist.

Silicone as a base does not allow enough complexity compared to carbon, but it might still yield very simple life. It just cannot ever produce naturally anything as complex as intelligent life, unless done artificially possibly.
