Not that anon, but why does this matter? Flu doesn't seem to be an aerosol spread disease, it typically has a low R0 even without interventions. Social distancing and masks are apparently enough to almost eliminate influenza, not to mention the vaccine for it is widely available (with varying success depending on the strains of the season).

Proof? And I mean actual cases of aerosol spread, not the potential shown in a lab. Influenza is not nearly as infectious as many other respiratory viruses. I don't believe SARS-CoV-2 is generally spread via aerosols either except under certain circumstances, yet it's several times more contagious than influenza.

No, I asked for actual cases where aerosol spread was confirmed. I don't care that lab results show it's possible, I'm not aware of any actual cases of influenza spread where there wasn't close contact involved. The R0 for the flu is stupidly low to suggest it spreads in a similar manner to measles. Even rhinoviruses are far more contagious than the flu.

Come up with a test that can be conducted outside the lab while maintaining decent controls.
One of the papers near the top talks about deliberate spread across test subjects with aerosol proving about 1/3rd as effective as surface transmission.
I don't know what better data than that you could be asking for.

You can look at real world events, household transmission, etc. Nothing suggests influenza is spread significantly through aerosols. But even better, there's been challenge trials with flu, including shoving people together for days at a time, and the spread rate was still incredibly low. Meanwhile, we have clear indications of aerosol spread with SARS-CoV-2 under certain circumstances.

No, they're typically used as separate terms. A virus spread primarily through aerosols (i.e. measles) leads to very high infection rates because aerosols can remain in the air for hours, so close contact isn't even necessary. Influenza functions much more like a droplet/fomite spread virus, you're highly unlikely to get infected unless you're spending a significant amount of time near a sick person. This has been tested directly with challenge trials where people were in close contact and still were not infected. Meanwhile, we've had major spreading events of SARS-CoV-2 even during outdoor events.

Is anyone still using those? N95/ffp2 is mandatory here.
They do help to decrease sowas though by creating a turbulent flow when exhaling.
