My main concern is regarding brain machine interface, it would be so so so much fucking easier to just start cramming ultra precise electrodes and start shocking parts of the nervous system on concious people to see what happens, enough trial and error on this would let you know the code to the human brain, how to make perfect artificial limbs, perfect vr, psychological treatments mind reading etc.
how about doing it with voluntary death row prisoners, you would just work first on figuring out how pain works, pump them full of morphine while you experiment and have a shotgun aimed at their heads to kill them quick if it goes wrong, like it would only be the first ones,
then one you got pain down you just keep on experimenting on whatever else, confident they arent feeling pain you just shock random stuff to reverse- engineeer the computer code for the brain
