Few people would admit it openly but I suspect that for the vast majority of any population the characteristics of the potential victims would be the deciding factor, especially so if the outcome was not public ( i.e no one but you knows the consequences of your choice ).
Save one healthy child versus save 5 elderly terminal patients.
Save one person you like/admire rather than 5 you detest.
Save your friend/relative rather than 5 strangers
Save one political ally rather than 5 opponents ( Would a liberal save 5 Trump supporters over Joe Biden? Or vice versa? If no one but they knew their choice and consequence? )
Save one person of your race/religion rather 5 which are not.
Bet you could par it down to get people making some really fucked up choices ( by someone else's standards)
