Shit sucks mane. Hopefully it goes back to normal by the end of 2021. But it definitely wont go back 100% since unis are saving money with zoom classes while the fees stay the same.

They're also saving a ton of money on accommodation. Charging for rooms while nobody is staying there, so no maintenance for them.

I think this will go on for as long as possible.

Yeah pretty much. Imho it devalues the degree that you get. If they keep things going this way then the university system will be unmasked and be known for the scam that it is (excluding serious degrees ofc). Can youimagine somebody paying for a history of arts degree only to get zoom lectures? Those who are really interested will go to an authenticated online school which is much more affordable and those who wanted to go only to party, wont go. So I think its a lose-lose situation for unis.

we won't. we have online 'practicals' (flash apps on the web) which are ridiculously useless.

i mean they are trying to sort this stuff out but it's just not adequate preparation. last year we at least got to come in with masks, face shields, and distancing. now we can't even do that.

all because some obese octogenarians are put at risk

Is anyone else really bothered by the fact that majority of left-wing (supposedly liberal) people are supportive of the restrictions? Lockdowns in general are literally the opposite of liberal (i.e. freedom), and additionally, education, which is supposedly important to the left is just thrown out the window as soon as a minor threat appears. I hate most right-wing, but most left-wing is revealing themselves to be just as brain-dead.

I don't know how it is in other universities but here we still have lab sessions albeit with strict safety guidelines. Seminars and classes are still online though. Expecting things to go back to normal come fall 2021.

guys, just go to uni (that is if you can do it without a large dept).
