Jokes aside, just be in a dark room in bed (if you can block out those damn street-lights it's better), close your eyes, and focus on "seeing" things, but not with your eyes, sort-of. Like a triangle or a tree of stuff.
I think the part of the brain to visualize things and the one to focus on seeing the things in front of you are in mutual inhibition. That's why it's easier to recall music when you're not hearing other music, or to visualize things when you're not seeing other things. But our eyes are always occupied in this day and age, distracted by shiny trinkets in front of us, so we never get time to focus on visualizing.
