Its been some years since I read Antifragile by Taleb, but this fucking virus made me think about the concept of antifragility again.
It is a cruel thing, but this virus is actually making our race stronger. By killing off the weak (elderly and genetically flawed people) we are, on average, becoming stronger as a race.
This applies to business as well. Many companies went bankrupt because they didnt prepare for such a catastrophic event such as this, but the ones that do go through this crisis will become rolemodels for the next generation of business men. What will be valued is not so much as profits and growth, but the ability of a company to withstand heavy blows.
Not to mention the evolution that this virus caused in the medical/pharmaceutical field. Nothing pushes people as hard as necessity.
My grandfather and some people I knew died. I still have relatives who are in the hospital because of it. It is fucked up, but I just can't deny it: we get stronger as a whole because some individuals are weak, and we benefit from their deaths/bankruptcy.
